Welcome to Calypso Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs!
Bev and Terry Brown of Lakewood, Colorado, have been showing and breeding dogs for 15 years. We were introduced to Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs 8 years ago and have since been dedicated to this beautiful, hard-working affectionate breed.
The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is the largest of the four Swiss Sennenhund breeds. Historically, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog assisted farmers and herdsmen with daily chores, such as pulling carts and keeping a watchful eye over livestock. Today the Swissy, as it is known to its friends, is primarily a family dog, though the working dog aptitude remains strong. As a family pet, the Swissy is noted for its gentle nature, great loyalty, and wonderful disposition toward children.
We started with Dalmatians, those high-energy, spotted dogs and we love them and have two of them in our family.
Recent News April 2009
Our "Mama Maxie" is now retired, but we have a beautiful 10-month puppy bitch (Caly) we got from Karen and Michael, at Cordillera, who's making a strong debut in the show ring. Our two year old boys are doing great, as well. Dumer only needs 2 points for his championship, and Kronk got his championship at 17 months of age. Sassy (our one year old bitch) has taken three reserves at major pointed shows and is the spitting image of her Mama Maxie!
We will not be putting a litter on the ground until 2010, but we appreciate the inquiries we receive from interested puppy buyers. Please feel free to contact us because we are likely aware of other planned breedings in our area. We continue to refer prospective buyers to breeders we trust and respect. Please know that patience is key when searching to buy a Swissy, and please remember that no respectable, responsible breeder would ever advertise puppies for sale in a newspaper or online.
